Henna Tattoos are a growing art form, popular for fashion and cultural practice depending on where you are. With the wide range of colours avalailable Henna can be a lot of fun and is becoming more popular in the UK particularly for weddings and special events. Henna for Tattoos is mainly supplied in small cones which serve as a handy applicator.
Henna has been used in fashion for some 9,000 years, it's nothing new. Cleopatra the Egyptian Queen noted for her beauty used henna for hair, nails and hands as did many others at the time. Egyptian Tattoos can just be made out in this ancient wall art.
Allergies and Reactions If you are a sensitive individual or are not sure about a product you should always do a small test area to see if there is any reaction. It is known those people with the rare "glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase" deficiency found mainly in the Middle East and North Africa are vulnerable to natural henna. Black henna made from safe materials is OK. However some Black Henna products can contain PPD's (black hair dye) which can effect 1 in 40 people with serious allergic reactions. If in doubt seek advice from a medical professional. Ref: British Skin Foundation. |
